Is it really enough that he is “everywhere...yet nowhere”?
No I don’t really think it is!
Surely if your mission was equality,  you could have done a better job than this,
For 200 years later we have evidence of supposed success, that “all men are created equal…”

But no sign of a man slave who slaved for those ruled and were regal.

  1. Amara;
    I think that in writing your piece pertaining to Bob Hemmings that you did an excellent in highlighting the parodox of freedom and slavery during our nations founding Era. I especially liked the line in which you raise the question," Is it enough that he is everywhere ,yet nowhere?" Your piece challenges us to continue to uncover the lesser known ,but important stories about the men and women who contributed to our nations conception. Keep writing.

  2. A lot said in a few words. You did a great job. I have one question, are all men created equal? Let us not forget that woman had no rights rich or poor. They were own property, but were not allowed to own property. I like your "supposed success".

  3. I love the idea of being "everywhere, yet nowhere." It's such a powerful image that emphasizes how the work of African-Americans has built so much of what surrounds us (literally and figuratively) but doesn't go acknowledged. Also love the alliteration in the last sentence.
