Blood was smeared upon the entrance,
Little Mary’s breath descended.
The man's identity who mustn’t be known,
Came from the land no one knows.
He wore a jacket that bore the name Poe,
But who could he be,
No one will know.
He laughed and snickered,
with happiness and joy,
As little Mary’s body dissolved.
She kicked and screamed,
But no one could help,
As the man within the walls,
fled like a crow.
Gabriel- I very much enjoyed reading your Poem, and I was immediately drawn into your work with the opening stanza: Blood was smeared across the entrance. Little Mary`s breath descended. So the reader is left wanting to know you killed her. I especially liked the last Stanza: She kicked and screamed but no one could help,As the man within the walls,fled like a crow. I can see the influence of Poe`s work in this Poem. Pretty scary. Great work.

ReplyDeleteI love this so much! It’s such an unexpected twist that Poe himself is the villain in this telling, and the images at the end make me feel like he’s entered his own stories. I especially enjoy that you invoked some rhyme with “Poe” and “crow.”
