Pantoum Poem by Alana Amai
This was often a sorrowful place
Wounds and sickness
I'm ready to go
Every morning and evening
Wounds and sickness
Unknown soldiers
Every morning and evening
Linked them in life
Unknown soldiers
What I'm told
Linked them in life
And then I don't feel bad
What I'm told
Resonates
And then I don't feel bad anymore
When it's all over
I like the emphasis on the Unknown Soldier.
ReplyDeleteThe sparse use of language makes this poem powerful. It reminds me of how author Toni Morrison used language.
ReplyDeleteI find myself reading your Pantoum Poem over again. I especially like the line that reads" linked them in life' . It provides for me the sense of perpetuity in the story of Washington Square.
