Who really makes it happen?

 Who really makes it happen?

They waited for

and waited.

it seemed to almost last

forever.

Trying to do jobs,

no one seems to remember

only the people

who sit by the fireplace get attention.

But never the people

Who fuel the fire.

  3. I love how you took the image of a fireplace, which usually has a cozy connotation, and turned it on its head with your last stanza. Suddenly the fireplace feels like a symbol of privilege and inaction for the people who are enjoying it, and a symbol of oppression for the people fueling it.

It's so impactful that you make the reader wait until the end to deliver the punch.

  5. I love how you distinguished those with power as the ones nearest to, or around the fireplace. It's such a simple but creative and impactful way to visualize the individual's appearance and status.

  6. This poem really reminded me that less is more. You created a lot of depth and power with very few words.

  7. I also found this to be a very powerful piece.I thought that this is a very good example of what we
learned at Camp yesterday on creating the micro-story , which helps us to look at the bigger picture,"Who really makes it happen"?

  8. Your poem's brevity serves to punctuate the powerful statement you make. I got chills reading it and will be pondering it for a long time. I would love to work reading this into a tour one day - with permission and credit, of course.
