Pantoum Poem by Issac Szepessy: Society of Little Gardens
IT’S WEIRD TO BE BACK ON THIS BENCH
HAZAH! SOME SAID. AND SOME SAID GOD SAVE THE KING
I DON’T THINK ANYONE SAID GOD SAVE THE KING
A GRAY CREASED ROCK + TOTAL KNEE CARE
HAZAH! SOME SAID. AND SOME SAID GOD SAVE THE KING
THE ROCK SAID, “many american soldiers…were buried in this ground”
A GRAY CREASED ROCK + TOTAL KNEE CARE
SO AND I DON’T WANT TO GET UP—NO NO NO NO
THE ROCK SAID, “many american soldiers…were buried in this ground”
Men have died in the darkness; BUT THERE IS A BREEZE. IT IS NICE.
SO AND I DON’T WANT TO GET UP—NO NO NO NO
unmarked graves of those who died of wounds and sickness
Men have died in the darkness; BUT THERE IS A BREEZE IT IS NICE.
I DON’T THINK ANYONE SAID GOD SAVE THE KING
SO AND I DON’T WANT TO GET UP—NO NO NO NO
IT’S WEIRD TO BE BACK ON THIS BENCH
I really like how you included the dialogue from the passing in people, very clever.
ReplyDeleteThe use of capitalization draws in the reader and adds an amusing chaotic feeling to the poem.
ReplyDeleteIenjoyed reading your Pantoum Poem .and I thought that it was creative to also give voice to an inanimate object.(" The Rock said,"many American Soldiers ...were buried in this ground").
